Background

A shared cycle path between Sunset Beach and Drummond Cove is a top community priority identified in a community survey.

In 2017, the City surveyed the cycling community to gather information on who they were and what their wants and needs are in regards to cycling in the City region.

The resulting Cycling in the 91国产自拍 Survey Report was used to inform the development of the Geraldton 2050 Cycling Strategy which was endorsed by Council in 2018.

The Cycling Strategy identified this same stretch of road as a key opportunity to enhance and extend some of the City's most popular cycling routes. The top priority in the strategy to develop the primary cycling network by investigating the development of a high-quality a cycling connection between Sunset Beach and Drummond Cove.  With the assistance of grant funding from the Department of Transport, the City undertook a Feasibility Study for a 3.4km long shared path along Chapman Road between Corallina Quays in Sunset Beach and Glenfield Beach Drive in Drummond Cove. The area between Sail Boulevard and Corallina Quays was not included in the study as at the City had already planned and designed the off road shared path between these two streets.
