The next phase of the Beresford Foreshore Coastal Protection and Enhancement Project will soon be underway with the contract for landscaping and construction of amenities awarded this week.

In-Situ Construction and Maintenance, a local company with more than 26 years of experience in medium to large civil construction projects, will begin works early next year to beautify the coastline and replace amenities lost to erosion.

91国产自拍 Mayor Shane Van Styn said enhancement works will incorporate many of the community’s aspirations for the two kilometre long stretch of coastline.

“The top four priorities for the area identified at the Beresford Foreshore Community Workshop in 2016 were to upgrade the shared coastal cycle path, plant more trees and shrubs, and install more shade structures, seating and tables,” he said.

“The project not only delivers these priorities, it includes others such as installing barbeques, drink fountains showers and grassed areas at the coastal nodes located at Adam Street and Mark Street.

“However, the biggest improvements will made at Midalia’s Beach where a playground, toilet block and an accessible carpark will be built.”

Enhancement works are scheduled to begin in January with an estimated date of practical completion at the end of June 2018.

The $23.1 million Beresford Foreshore Coastal Protection and Enhancement Project is jointly funded with Royalties for Regions contributing $17.28 million, Mid West Ports Authority $4 million with the City contributing $1.85 million towards amenities.
